How does a solid become a liquid. Solids turn into liquids through temperature change.In the case of water solid ice turns into liquid  water because the temperature rises above 0 degress. The heat energy always moves from a warm place to a cold place. When you get a solid hot the molecules go faster and harder, until they start breaking apart and moving around. Thats when a solid melts and becomes a liquid.  One type of solid is an crystalline solid. The particles in a crystalline solid have a regular repeating pattern. Some solids turns into liquids depending their density. Freezing. The process in which a substance changes from a liquid to a solid is called freezing. When a liquid is cooled, the average energy decreases. The amount of heat removed is great enough than the attractive forces between molecules that are together, and the liquid freezes into a solid. The temperature of a freezing liquid, remains constant, even when more heat is removed.

Matter is anything that take up space and has mass. Anything we can taste, or smell is matter. Food, books, our body is matter.
