                                                                SOLIDS What is state of matter?  State of matter tells you weather a material is a solid, a liquid, or a gas. Matter is anything that take up space and has mass. Anything we can taste, or smell is matter. Food, books, our body is matter. Our thoughts and emotions are not matter because they dont take up space. What is an atom? An atom is the smallest particle that makes up a given part of matter. When two or more atoms combine, they form a particle called a Molecule When hydrogen and oxygen atoms combine they form a water molecule. Most matter is made up of atoms and molecules. Matter in motion Random motion of tiny particles of matter is called brownian motion. The idea that the particles of all matter are in constant, random motion is called Kinetic Energy. Burning wood is an exothermic reaction because it releases heat and it requires some energy, its  break some chemical bonds. 4.  Striking match is an endothermic reaction because the heat is absorbed for the reaction to occur.
